Why proper compaction is needed
Proper soil compaction is necessary to provide a foundation that adequately supports the foundation. When compaction is insufficient, the soil has larger pores and lower density. Since the large pores help move water through the soil efficiently, the soil's infiltration and drainage rates increase.
This can cause it to move, shrink or expand unevenly. It causes uneven settlement of the foundation, which can lead to structural damage.
However, with proper compaction, soil particles are well compressed and there is less pore space between them. This results in higher soil density, less macroporosity and a more uniform surface. The surface is more compact and helps prevent structural damage.
An interlocking paver that is not compacted properly
is likely to become unstable. Consider a situation where a contractor is building a driveway with interlocking paving stones. If the sub-base is not properly compacted, both the paver and the foundation will lack stability. This can lead to shifting and compression that worsens as a heavier vehicle drives over them.
Ultimately, this can lead to grooves in parking spaces and areas where vehicles often pass. As the subbase and paver continue to move, the surface becomes uneven. Unfortunately, uneven pavers can cause trip hazards and reduce the curb appeal of the driveway.
Tamper plate compactors are compaction machines used for construction projects that require compaction. Compact the soil to create a solid surface that can support the foundation. Vibrating tamper compactors can be used to compact subgrades and asphalt on driveways, parking lots and maintenance work. They are also useful in tight areas where larger rollers may not be able to reach. They smooth and level soil in preparation for landscaping, paving and other home improvement projects.
4046lb. tamper plate compactor 5.5hp
This medium-sized tamper plate compactor model is the perfect solution for almost any size paving project. Equipped with 5.5 hp engine, it can produce 4750 blows per minute and has a compaction force of 4046 pounds. This force is sufficient to compact sand, asphalt, gravel and granular materials. Plus, it features a water tank that protects the board from heat while compacting asphalt. This easy-to-use tamper plate compactor has powerful performance against erosion.
